Lower Salmon River, Idaho
Formed in 1991, Save Our Wild Salmon (SOS) is a nationwide coalition of conservation organizations, commercial and sport fishing associations, businesses, river groups, and taxpayer and clean energy advocates working collectively to restore healthy, sustainable wild salmon to the rivers, streams and oceans of the Pacific salmon states. Sundog Expeditions is a proud member of the Save Our Wild Salmon coalition and for the fifth time we will be donating trip profits to support their efforts. In 2010, we have scheduled a 5-day dory trip down the lower gorge of the Salmon River in late August. This fully guided trip will be based out of Moscow, Idaho where guests may stay at the University Inn Best Western before and after. The trip price includes roundtrip van transportation between the hotel and the river put-in and take-out and all meals from lunch on August 23 through lunch on August 27 .Save Our wild Salmon’s Inland Northwest Project Director, Sam Mace, will join us on this very special Idaho river trip.
Save Our Wild Salmon’s Mission SOS’s mission is to restore abundant, harvestable runs of salmon to the Columbia dn Snake River basins. Wild salmon and free-flowing rivers are the cornerstone of a healthy environment and vibrant economy in the Pacific Northwest. The members of SOS endorse the following five principles:
• return to salmon the use of their rivers: protect and restore spawning, rearing, and migratory habitat
• conserve the genetic heritage and biological diversity of wild salmon populations
• restore productive Tribal and non-Tribal fisheries that allow the rebuilding of wild stocks
• restore wild salmon at least cost to other river users and society as a whole
• foster cooperation among all citizens committed to wild salmon recovery
